Strategic Signal analyzes text you highlight on webpages and returns structured business insights based on your professional profile.Data we collect
Text you highlight on webpages — sent to our backend for analysis, not stored on our servers. The title of the page you're reading — sent to our backend and used to help generate your analysis. The URL of the page you're reading — sent to our backend but not used to generate your analysis; discarded after the request unless you save the analysis, in which case it's stored locally in your browser. Your professional profile (industry, role, market focus, and priorities) — stored locally in your browser, sent to our backend each time you run an analysis. Your selected archetype — stored locally in your browser; not sent with individual analysis requests, but included when anonymous usage analytics are recorded. Your email address, if you choose to subscribe for updates — sent to our email provider (Mailchimp). A randomly generated device identifier (not tied to your name) — stored locally in your browser, sent to our backend to support anonymous usage analytics. If you subscribe for updates, this identifier is also sent alongside your email address, which means our server logs could associate your device with your email. Anonymous usage events — that an analysis was run, which relevance band it scored, your selected archetype, and whether a "Strategic Stretch" insight was triggered.Data we do not collect
We do not collect your name or any government-issued identifiers. We do not track your general browsing history — only the specific page you actively highlight text on. We do not read your clipboard. We do not sell your data.Third party services
Highlighted text, your profile, and the page title are sent to OpenAI (GPT-4o-mini) to generate your analysis. A short search query derived from your profile and the article is sent to Tavily AI to retrieve supporting market research. If you subscribe for updates, your email address is sent to Mailchimp. Please refer to each provider's own privacy policy for how they handle data.Data retention
Saved analyses, your profile, and your device identifier are stored locally in your browser via chrome.storage and are never sent anywhere except as described above. We do not maintain a database of your highlighted text or analyses on our servers.Infrastructure and server logs
Our backend API is hosted on a third-party platform (Railway). Standard operational logs — which can include your device identifier, subscribed email address, search queries generated during analysis, and your IP address (used for rate limiting) — are recorded for debugging, rate limiting, and security purposes. These logs are not a database of your activity and are not used for any purpose beyond operating the service.Contact
